What Are The
Common Myths On Ceiling Fan Feng Shui?
|
Ceiling fans have a rather bad reputation among many Feng
Shui practitioners. However, most of this reputation are
based on several misconceptions about Feng Shui and how it
affects objects in a room. Like most items, ceiling fans are
neither inherently good or bad. What matters is how they are
used and positioned. This is what really matters in Feng
Shui, so if you're concerned about your ceiling fans then
this article may help provide some insight on the issue.
How Do Ceiling Fans Affect Your Home's Feng Shui?
First of all, it's important to keep in mind that Ceiling
Fans are neither inherently good or bad for Feng Shui. Like
most household items, the answer depends on a lot of
factors. The problem with Ceiling Fans is that they are
often difficult to position in a way that is conducive to
good Chi. The good news, though, is that there are plenty of
things you can do in order to prevent your ceiling fans from
delivering bad Chi into your home. This article will show a
few popular Feng Shui related myths about ceiling fans, and
the actual truth behind them.
Myth 1: Ceilings Fans Should Not Appear in the Bedroom
In traditional Feng Shui, you're only supposed to have one
thing above your head while you're sleeping and that is the
ceiling. However, this doesn't mean that you can't have them
inside the room. It only means that you can't have them
right above your bed. This is because heavy items should not
be positioned over your resting area, and this doesn't just
apply to ceiling fans. The same rule also applies to bells
and wind chimes. Heavy items mean heavy/oppressive energy,
which is why Feng Shui experts don't recommend installing
heavy items on the ceiling, right over your bed. So if you
want to add a ceiling fan in your bed room, try to keep it
as far away from your bed as possible. This way, you'll be
able to avoid most of the negative energy.
Myth 2: The Ceiling Fan's Circular Motion Kills Chi
No, this is very untrue. A Ceiling Fan's rotation does not
kill Chi, but instead helps to increase its circulation
around the house. So if your house has been designed to
absorb a lot of positive energy then a well positioned
ceiling fan can help to distribute it evenly between the
various rooms. Ceiling fans will only "kill" Chi if there's
very little space in your home to begin with. If this is the
case then your ceiling fans will only cause the Chi to
scatter or bounce off all over the place, making your home's
Feng Shui even worse off than before.
Myth 3: A Ceiling Fan's Rotation Creates A Downward Spiral,
Thus Driving Positive Chi Downwards
This particular myth is only true if the ceiling fan is
positioned in a room that has very few entrances. This is
because if the Chi has nowhere to go then the ceiling fan
will force it to take the only direction available, namely
down. Furthermore, it's also worth mentioning that the
downward push of most ceiling fans will only push down Chi
if its set to maximum. If your ceiling fans don't have very
rapid rotation then they are more likely to cause the Chi
around your home to circulate rather than go down. So in
order to prevent your ceiling fans from pushing the Chi
downwards, you will need to do two things. First of all, you
will need to install your ceiling fans in relatively
spacious rooms, and secondly, you need to adjust their
rotation speed to a safe minimum.
Myth 4: Ceiling Fans Cause Unseen Pressures
This is true, but only if you install your ceiling fans in a
low room or if they hang too low, like those found on a
slanted ceiling. When this happens, the ceiling fan really
does make cause Chi depression within the room. In contrast,
ceiling fans which are installed in rooms with high ceilings
tend to benefit the room, since it offers increased Chi
circulation, as opposed to high pressure. So if you have a
lot of rooms with low ceilings, it's probably not a good
idea to give them ceiling fans.
Myth 5: Ceiling Fans Are Cutting Chi
Cutting or Arrow Chi refers to sharp items which are
positioned directly in front of people. A good example of
this would be a sharp knife right across the doorway. Not
only does this create actual physical hazard, it also
disrupts the flow of Chi. The reason why ceiling fans are
often considered Arrow or Cutting Chi's is because some
ceiling fans are often placed in potentially dangerous
areas. This is also true if the ceiling fan is old,
malfunctioning or if serves no real purpose. Under such
circumstances then a ceiling fan may be considered as an
Arrow Chi.
So in order to avoid this situation, you will need to make
sure that your ceiling fan does not present any danger to
you or members of your household. To do this, you will need
to ask yourself a few important questions:
1. Is the Ceiling Fan Safe and Secure?
2. Is It in Good Working Condition?
3. Does the Room Need It for Ventilation?
4. Does It Improve the Room's Ambiance?
If you answer yes to all these questions then your ceiling
fan is safe and will not hamper the Feng Shui of your home.
Myth 6: Lighted Ceiling Fans Are Bad for Feng Shui
This is only true if the ceiling fan's lights are not
adjustable. Feng Shui usually recommend that lights should
be adjustable and have varying levels of intensity. If your
ceiling fan's lights are too bright and they're not
adjustable then they could easily ruin your home's Feng
Shui. On the other hand, if the light is relatively mild, or
if it's adjustable, then it won't really have much of an
effect on the Chi.
Also, if you want to use lighted Ceiling Fans, try not to
install them in places like chairs or dinner tables, as
these locations can harm the Chi of people who sit or stand
underneath them. |
